Strengthen the immune system & prevent colds

How "fit" a person's immune system is initially depends on inherited factors. However, there are numerous influencing factors that can affect the immune response.

Heat applications - especially warming applications - can mitigate negative influencing factors (low temperature, poor circulation and supply). Their effect can be described as immunoregulatory, which can certainly be equated with a strengthening of the immune system.

In the cold season, we are often exposed to temperatures at which the body reduces the blood flow to the body's shell so as not to lose heat. Cool, dry mucous membranes with poor circulation offer less protection against pathogens. Regular use of warming applications can improve blood circulation and supply to the mucous membranes. This also means that significantly more antibodies (defensins, immune cells) are available. Drying out of the mucous membranes is reduced. It is also known that excessively low tissue temperatures increase susceptibility to infections. In this respect, the risk of catching a cold can be reduced. Under certain circumstances, it may also be possible to prevent "nascent colds" at an early stage. If you already have a fever (38 °C), you should refrain from using it.

Stimulate metabolism

A warming application with infrared enables very good "elimination" and "detoxification" in the tissue. Increasing the tissue temperature by 5 to 10 °C doubles the metabolic rate, increases blood circulation and significantly improves the flushing of the tissue.
The normal temperature range in the body shell (muscles, connective tissue, joints, fatty tissue) is between 20 and 34 °C. With the help of heating to 36 to 37 °C, a significant temperature increase is achieved in the tissue, which also lasts for hours beyond the pure application time.

Although the application itself only consumes an additional 90 kcal/30 minutes - the low-temperature infrared technology is intended to be gentle on the body - studies have shown that regular use raises the basic value of the body's core temperature into the 'high-normal' range. This also raises the body's basal metabolic rate (energy consumption for maintaining bodily functions) in the long term - in other words, more "basic" energy is consumed.

General health tips

  • Make sure you eat a balanced diet rich in minerals and vitamins. In particular, vitamin C (e.g. in citrus fruits, kiwi, peppers, potatoes, parsley), vitamin A (e.g. carrots, liver) and the trace elements zinc (e.g. in pulses) and selenium (e.g. in eggs, nuts and bread) should not be missing.
  • Some plant extracts, such as extracts from echinacea species, tree of life or indigo root, are said to help strengthen the immune system. The results of clinical studies are not clear in this regard.
  • Drink enough! Saline nasal sprays can also help to keep the nasal mucosa moist if it is dry.
  • Sufficient sleep is important for our immune system and our psyche. Sleep in a cool place. The ideal night-time temperature is 16 to 18 °C.
  • A positive attitude to life strengthens the immune system! Stress, on the other hand, is poison! Use your time in the low-temperature infrared cabin to actively relax.
  • Get some exercise in the fresh air every day! Endurance sports boost your metabolism and strengthen your immune system. But make sure you wear clothing that is suitable for the weather (keep your head and feet warm!).
  • Avoid overheated, dry rooms and ventilate regularly. Although humidifiers can improve the indoor climate, they require careful hygiene.
  • Wash your hands frequently - most infections occur through smear infections.
