30 Years of Physiotherm—A Special Milestone in Our History

About 90,000 infrared cabins were developed, crafted with passion, and brought to the world. Behind each one lies not just a product, but an idea: to help people feel better, recharge their energy, and bring more quality of life into their daily routines.

From our earliest visions to our many thousands of enthusiastic customers, we’ve always been driven by the desire to rethink warmth and create solutions that are good for both body and soul. Each cabin tells its own story—of moments of relaxation, of little breaks from everyday life, and of people who consciously take steps to improve their well-being.

To us, 90,000 infrared cabins are more than just a number. They represent 90,000 memories, experiences, and personal stories. They represent countless moments when warmth, tranquility, and well-being have made a difference.

But this journey is far from over. With the same enthusiasm, the same pioneering spirit, and our eyes fixed on the future, we continue to innovate, conduct research, and set new standards for the future of infrared heating.

Warmth and Well-Being in the Workplace

In 2018, in collaboration with the renowned office chair manufacturer Wagner Another groundbreaking innovation: the first Infrared Office Chair. With this, Physiotherm brought the soothing effects of infrared heat directly into everyday work life and the workplace for the first time.

The combination of ergonomic seating and targeted infrared technology has opened up entirely new possibilities for promoting health and well-being even while working in the office.

Another milestone that demonstrates how Physiotherm is breaking new ground to bring warmth to the places where people spend a large part of their day.

Cluster Award

With the introduction of the INTENSE Infrared Shower Physiotherm is creating an entirely new product category and, for the first time, combining the two elements of well-being: heat and water. This innovative solution brings soothing infrared heat directly into the shower and provides targeted relaxation for the neck and back.

Whether as a retrofit solution or a premium product, the INTENSE line transforms the bathroom into a personal wellness zone without taking up much space, making the health benefits of infrared heat accessible to even more people.

For this forward-looking innovation, Physiotherm was awarded the Cluster Award from the Tyrolean Economic Development Agency Excellent.

"Physiotherm" ski jumper Thomas Diethart wins the Four Hills Tournament in a sensational victory

The Lower Austrian ski jumper Thomas Diethart celebrated after Physiotherm became the athlete's primary personal sponsor in December 2013; his greatest athletic achievement was his sensational victory in the 2013–2014 Four Hills Tournament.

The partnership involved not only financial support and autograph sessions, but also the incorporation of the Physiotherm product line into the athlete's post-workout recovery routine.

Acquisition of Manufactur Neher

The shower manufacturer Manufactur Neher, known as Manufactur für Glas & Spiegel GmbH since 2005, was acquired in October 2013.

Until that point, it had been owned by BWT AG, a publicly traded water treatment company based in Upper Austria.

Partnership with the Austrian Ski Association

The partnership between Physiotherm and ÖSV elite athletes is based on the targeted use of infrared heat to Improved performance and accelerated muscle recovery in elite sports.

Development of SENSOcare®—Non-Contact Skin Temperature Measurement

With SENSOcare®, Physiotherm has developed a unique technology that puts people first: Contactless skin temperature measurement allows for personalized adjustment of infrared heat—for a treatment experience that feels natural, comfortable, and perfectly tailored.

Opening of the New Headquarters in Thaur

With the opening of our new Physiotherm headquarters in Thaur (near Innsbruck), we have reached an important milestone in our company’s history.

The new location brought together the showroom, spotlight production, and warehouse in one place—thereby creating the perfect foundation for further growth, innovation, and even closer ties with our customers.

This is where the conditions were created to further develop our unique infrared technologies, ensure the highest quality standards, and continue to advance our vision of soothing warmth.

Establishment of Physiotherm GmbH Italy

Physiotherm is expanding beyond its borders.

With the founding of Physiotherm GmbH Italy and the opening of our location in Bolzano, we have taken an important step toward the future.

Our goal: to bring Physiotherm’s innovative infrared technology even closer to people in South Tyrol and throughout Italy.

With a strong local partner, we were able to further expand our vision of health-oriented heating, the highest quality, and personalized well-being.

Sharing Responsibility for the Future

Some success stories don't begin with a signature—they start with people who believe in a shared vision from the very beginning.

Josef Gunsch has been an integral part of Physiotherm since its very beginnings and has played a decisive role in shaping the company’s development through his great dedication, entrepreneurial vision, and tireless commitment.

In 2005, this long-standing relationship of trust was officially formalized: He became a partner in the company.

The Move into the Hotel and Wellness Industry

In 2000, a separate Physiotherm Vertriebs GmbH founded with the specific aim of establishing infrared technology in the hotel industry, spas, and wellness centers.

The goal was clear: to make the soothing effects of Physiotherm infrared heat accessible to even more people—not only at home, but also while on vacation, during a spa stay, or when visiting a thermal spa.

With this move, Physiotherm laid the foundation for its successful expansion in the international hotel and wellness sector and made infrared heat an integral part of modern health and wellness concepts.
